Bluebird is looking for an Instructional Designer to join a growing product design team developing an AI powered K–12 learning platform. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform curriculum content into engaging, visually intuitive, and pedagogically sound digital learning experiences.

This role bridges curriculum design and UX/UI design, so comfort in Figma and working within an existing design system is essential. Have creative ownership within established design guidelines and collaborate closely with designers, developers, and curriculum specialists

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and structure interactive K–12 learning experiences for verbal, math, and phonics curriculum.
  • Use Figma to design, prototype, and document lesson flows and content modules.
  • Apply and contribute to our design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across all instructional components.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and content writers to bring curriculum to life in the digital classroom environment.
  • Transform static lessons and assessments into student and teacher centered digital experiences.
  • Conduct quick usability checks or learning flow reviews to improve clarity and engagement.
  • Maintain version control and organization within shared Figma files and documentation spaces.
  • Communicate effectively and work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or related field.
  • Proficient in Figma, including components, variants, and design systems.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical principles for K–12 learners (grades 3–12 ideal).
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design practices and digital prototyping.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills—comfortable working async and independently.

Experience a Plus

  • Experience with graphic design or illustration (Adobe Creative Suite, Procreate, etc.)
  • Experience designing for AI assisted learning tools or adaptive content
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, color contrast, etc.)

Join a collaborative, design-led team shaping the next generation of K–12 learning experiences. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of education, design, and technology, contributing to products that make learning more engaging, equitable, and effective.
