Intermediate UI Designer
Diamond
The Role
Diamond is looking for a Digital Designer, for a six month contract, with serious Figma chops and an obsession with craft. This is a new role designed to support a surge in digital work—including websites, content, digital tools, and experiences—for some truly great brands. You'll work as part of our interdisciplinary Creative team, collaborating closely with strategists, writers, and tech to bring Ideas that Perform to life across every touchpoint.
You'll be part of a tight-knit digital team, reporting to the VP, Group Creative Director, Digital Experience, and creating work that's smart, beautiful, and functional. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, obsess over details, and know Figma inside-out, you'll fit right in.
Responsibilities
- Design, refine and help maintain scalable Figma-based design systems for projects of all sizes
- Execute best-in-class UI and digital content designs, balancing beauty with performance and accessibility. You love creating playful, intuitive experiences—and your attention to detail turns good into great.
- Translate UX research and strategy into thoughtful, user-centric design decisions. You're empathetic and deeply committed to designing with the end-user in mind.
- Turn business problems and ideas into clear, actionable design tasks and communicate these to internal teams, developers, and platform owners
- Maintain visual and functional consistency across all digital outputs, adhering to brand guidelines and accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG)
- QA and review developed work, identify bugs, and suggest smart, design-forward solutions
- Collaborate with internal teams—Creative, Strategy, Accounts—to bring work from concept to execution
- Contribute to ideation and creative development, including brainstorming sessions, mood boards, and mockups
- Stay current on design, tech, and user trends—and share insights with the team
- Manage your own time, stay organized, and help uphold the quality throughout the creative process
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in digital design, ideally in an agency or SaaS environment
- A strong portfolio showcasing UX thinking, interaction design, and visual design execution
- Expert-level Figma user—you're fluent in components, variants, auto layout, and shared libraries
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite—particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign—is secondary but needed
- Solid understanding of AODA/WCAG accessibility guidelines for digital work in Canada
- Comfortable with Google Workspace, macOS, and industry-standard collaboration tools
- Strong attention to detail, self-management, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strategic thinking with a deep appreciation for visual storytelling and functional design
- Team player who contributes, listens, and collaborates to elevate the work
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with UX design principles
- Figma prototyping skills would be helpful, but not required
- Understanding of modern front-end capabilities (even if you're not coding it)
- Experience with sports or financial services brands
- Figma certification or formal training in digital design
- Figma plug-in savvy and a bit of AI wizardry
- Knowledge of no-code/low-code platforms like Framer, Webflow and/or Squarespace
