We solve complicated marketing and design problems for tech brands at every stage of growth. Our home office is in San Francisco, CA, but we are remote by design, with employees spread across the country. We have team members who typically work between 20-40 hours a week on project assignments for our clients.What We're Looking ForWe need a Designer who excels at working within design systems and bringing creative concepts to life with precision. You'll primarily focus on executing and implementing design solutions within established frameworks, while occasionally contributing to creative concept development under guidance. This role requires someone who can balance attention to detail with efficient execution — implementing approved design directions within existing design systems while supporting creative development when needed.We're looking for strong production skills, including image optimization for web and digital platforms, preparing assets for various mediums, and ensuring design quality through technical execution. You should be comfortable handling projects from creative brief to final deliverable, with the technical know-how to ensure designs are implemented correctly.We value designers with a growth mindset who are eager to learn and improve their craft. While you'll need to be technically proficient in production work, we're equally interested in your passion for design and willingness to take on new challenges. Above all, you'll have a keen eye for detail and organization, particularly in maintaining clean Figma files that support team collaboration.Your MissionAs a Designer at Tangible, you'll focus primarily on skilled execution and implementation within a highly collaborative team environment. You'll work within established design systems and brand guidelines to create high-quality visual solutions, supporting senior team members in creative development when needed. You'll refine and implement design directions with precision, ensuring consistency across all deliverables. Throughout all projects, you'll collaborate closely with fellow designers, strategists, copywriters, and project managers under the guidance of senior team members. You'll help ensure design implementation is as flawless as the concepts themselves, working with developers to bring designs to life without compromise. Your success will come from your technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in our collaborative culture.Key ResponsibilitiesExecution & Implementation: Work confidently within existing design systems and brand guidelines to create consistent, high-quality visual solutions across multiple touchpointsDesign System Application: Apply clients' design systems effectively across various brand materials and digital experiences, following established patterns and conventionsVisual Design Production: Produce excellent visual design across mediums, including UX/UI components, marketing materials, and digital experiences within established frameworksFigma Proficiency: Maintain well-organized Figma files with proper layer naming, component usage, and clean file structure; work effectively within clients' existing Figma libraries and design systemsCreative Support: Contribute to creative concept development under the guidance of senior designers, bringing fresh ideas while staying within brand parametersDeveloper Collaboration: Create clear annotations, specifications, and optimized assets for developers, ensuring smooth implementation across web, email, PDFs, and other digital formatsDigital Asset Management: Work efficiently with client DAM systems to leverage existing assets and contribute new ones according to established protocolsQuality Focus: Ensure all design deliverables meet Tangible's high standards and are error-free before handoffTeam Collaboration: Work effectively within cross-functional teams, participating in strategy discussions and providing design input when neededAdaptability: Jump into projects at various stages, adapting quickly to project needs and timelines while maintaining quality standardsEssential Skills (Must-Have)Experience: 3-5 years as a visual designer with 1-2 years working within corporate design systemsAdvanced Figma Skills:Working effectively within clients' existing Figma librariesCreating responsive designs with auto layoutMaintaining organized files with clean layer structure and consistent namingUsing styles, properties, and variables effectivelyWorking with existing components and variantsDesign Fundamentals: Strong command of layout composition, typography systems, and color theoryTechnical Production: Basic photo retouching and composition skillsImplementation Knowledge: Experience preparing and annotating files for developer handoff; understanding of design requirements for web and mobile platformsCollaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively within teams, give and receive feedback constructively, and balance independent work with collaborative problem-solvingPortfolio: Demonstrating ability to work within established design systems while maintaining visual quality and consistencySoftware Proficiency: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Google Workspace, familiarity with project management and communication toolsEducation: No formal requirements, as the experience requirement qualifies as equivalent experience to a bachelor's degree in a design-related fieldProfessionalism: Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a remote environmentBonus Skills (Nice-to-Have)Experience with enterprise and/or SaaS clientsBasic prototyping skillsPrint design experience and Adobe InDesign knowledgeExperience with Microsoft Office 365 and Apple KeynoteStoryboarding or basic animation skillsYour Working StyleDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsSelf-directed and resourceful, able to work independently within established guidelinesCollaborative team player who thrives in virtual environmentsAdaptable to changing priorities and timelinesEffective at managing time while on multiple concurrent projectsWorks well under deadlines while maintaining qualityEager to learn and grow within the roleOpen to feedback and committed to continuous improvementProactive communicator who stays connected with the teamWhat We'll ProvideThis is a part-time, hourly position. There is no guarantee of hours, but our estimates call for 15-25 hours/week of project work, with a possibility that will increase over time (we can’t make promises in this regard, but our business is thriving and growing!). The hourly rate for this position ranges between $58 - $75 an hour, paid bi-weekly, based on experience.Tangible provides an array of benefits including paid time off/sick leave, 4% 401(k) contributions after 6 months of employment (these are guaranteed contributions, not a match dependent on your contributions), and the ability to purchase into a group rate for health coverage.We supply each employee with a computer for work purposes, preloaded with the software/licenses needed to do your job.
