Growing together.Optum is looking for an energetic, creative, and technically savvy Senior User Experience Designer to work within our User Experience Design Studio.A UX Designer is passionate about creating great experiences within health care. Their goal is to understand our users and business needs and collaborate with the product team to help create a great product experience for our users.The Senior User Experience Designer will work within a collaborative, cross‑functional project team to design portals, applications, and web properties. They will partner with UX researchers, designers, developers and UX managers to translate information architecture, navigation and process flows into easy‑to‑use and aesthetically beautiful solutions.Primary ResponsibilitiesAdvocate for user‑centered research and design principlesGather insights and test concepts with users in order to inform design decisionsWork on one or more projects while meeting UX, technical and business requirementsCollaborate with team members to identify, prioritize, and implement design solutions in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environmentUse wireframes, flow diagrams, sketches, storyboards, mockups, and/or high‑fidelity prototypes to communicate the user experience at various stages of the design processLeverage and contribute to existing design pattern libraries and interface guidelinesIterate rapidly, with high quality, and with user‑centered focusCritique in‑progress design work, evaluating the usability and effectiveness of solutionsParticipate in the research processComply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re‑assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do soRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Design, Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Information Architecture, Communications, Computer Science, a related discipline, OR 2+ years of relevant work experienceExperience gathering user research and testing concepts with users to inform design decisionsExperience with conducting expert reviews and/or heuristic evaluationsExperience with industry standard design tools (e.g. Figma)Experience creating wireframes and prototypes to communicate design concepts to users and project partnersPortfolio of relevant user experience design and/or research project deliverablesKnowledge of foundational web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)Solid understanding of designing for Accessibility standards WCAG/508. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyDemonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectivelyDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team and internal clientsDemonstrated ability to work with designers and developers to implement new ideasDemonstrated ability to create clean, visually consistent designsDemonstrated ability to quickly iterate designs to meet business and user needs while adapting to technical constraintsDemonstrated ability to manage time and deadlines effectivelyDemonstrated ability to receive and provide design critiqueDemonstrated understanding user‑centered design and research activitiesPractice selling ideas with proven good negotiation skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with Agile methodologyExperience with enterprise softwareExperience with medical or healthcare industriesExperience in practical application of accessibility standards and guidelinesExperience in group facilitation, user interviews, heuristic evaluations, task analysis, demo: us demonstration of test moderation and card sortingExperience designing for mobile and/or responsive webExperience with conversational interaction design and its related technologies (natural language understanding, speech recognition, dialog generation, and speech synthesis)Knowledge of UX related analytics and metricsKnowledge of video, motion graphics or photographyProven involvement in the UX community (e.g. UXPA, AIGA, IxDA, meet‑ups, clubs, conferences)Proven excellent communication skills, including the Demonstrated ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences at various levels of our organizationProven visual design skillsProven eager to learn from engagement and team membersProven good communication skills, both verbal and writtenDemonstrated ability to work across the design process, with high quality and attention to detailAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
