UX Designer for Education App (Figma, Multi-Persona, Psychology-Informed UX)
UpworkShare this job:
About the Project
We are building a new application in the education/college-planning space. The goal is to help students, parents, and counselors make clearer, more confident decisions about college, careers, and long-term financial outcomes.
This is a multi-persona product with different emotional needs and decision paths, so the UX foundation is critical. We have already completed extensive user journeys, personas, and MVP vs. Phase 2 priorities. We now need a UX designer to translate these into intuitive flows, wireframes, and an interactive prototype.
Because these decisions are high-stakes and often stressful for users, we are specifically looking for someone who understands how human psychology influences UX, things like trust-building, simplifying complex choices, reducing cognitive load, and designing for clarity and reassurance.
What You’ll Work On
UX flows for students, parents, and counselors
Wireframes for the full MVP experience
A clean, interactive Figma prototype
Collaboration on the UX backlog and sprint planning
Weekly reviews, questions, and iterative refinement
- *This role is UX only (not UI branding).**
What I’m Looking For
Required
Strong UX skills with a portfolio that shows structured, thoughtful flow design
Ability to design for multiple personas and multi-step journeys
Experience applying psychology-informed UX (trust, motivation, decision-making, simplifying complexity)
Proficiency in Figma and comfort working within a client-owned file
Ability to work in an iterative, agile style with weekly checkpoints
Clear communication and willingness to ask smart questions
Nice to have
Experience in EdTech, FinTech, or products involving complex decision-making
Background with responsive web + mobile
Deliverables
User flows
Wireframes
Fully clickable Figma prototype
Short documentation of key UX decisions
How We’ll Work Together
Once an NDA is signed, I’ll share the full set of artifacts (personas, journeys, user stories, prioritization). You’ll review everything, return with questions, and propose a UX plan. Together we’ll build the backlog and begin weekly sprints with short showcases for feedback.
This continues until the backlog is complete and the prototype is ready for engineering.
How to Apply
Please include
A brief intro about your UX background
Portfolio links (especially multi-step or multi-persona projects)
Any examples showing psychology-informed UX
Your preferred pricing model (fixed, hourly, hybrid)
Confirmation that you can work inside my Figma account
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a conversation and required to sign an NDA before receiving full project documentation.
