Position Overview
As a Junior UX/UI Designer at Via TRM, you'll support the product and engineering teams by contributing to the creation of clean, user-friendly interfaces and user-centered design processes. Your role will include assisting in the wireframing, prototyping, and design of new features and enhancements across Via's product lines. Key Responsibilities
- Support the design of web-based products used by higher ed professionals, students, and scholars.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Developers, and QA to implement engaging and accessible user experiences.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes for new product features and design enhancements.
- Help maintain and contribute to Via's evolving design system.
- Participate in user feedback sessions, internal product discussions, and design critiques.
- Support responsive design efforts to ensure optimal user experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Apply accessibility and usability best practices (e.g., WCAG) to designs.
- Assist in conducting UX research to understand user needs and behaviors.
- 1–2 years of professional experience in UX/UI design (internships and freelance work count).
- A portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions and visual design sensibility.
- Proficiency in Figma (or similar tools like Sketch, Adobe XD).
- Familiarity with responsive design principles and modern web/UI trends.
- Understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and interaction design.
- Comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback to improve designs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A curious, positive, collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
- Experience designing for SaaS or EdTech platforms.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA).
- Exposure to HTML/CSS or front-end development workflows is a plus.
- Interest or background in international education or higher education systems.
- Experience collaborating with Agile teams (Scrum or Kanban).
- A passion for solving problems that matter and making complex systems usable.
- Are not interested in growing your skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
- Prefer rigid environments over dynamic, collaborative teams.
- Struggle with feedback or don't thrive in a remote-first company.
- Are not ready to contribute to fast-moving product development cycles.
