UX-Focused Product Designer for Figma Systemization & User Journey Mapping - Contract to Hire
Upwork
Job Title
Product Designer (Figma Systems & UX Flow Strategy) – Fractional
Location
Remote (open to PST/CT related time zones; async-friendly)
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced, systems-thinking Product Designer to help us clean, organize, and scale our design files while mapping out complex user journeys across our product.
This is not a visual design–heavy role. It’s a strategic design position focused on user flows, decision logic, edge cases, and structural UX. You’ll be thinking through how the product works — not just how it looks — and bringing clarity to our design through clean Figma organization, smart component use, and detailed flow mapping.
The role begins as fractional contract work, with potential for ongoing collaboration based on fit and evolving needs.
What You’ll Do
UX Journey Mapping & Flow Logic
- Audit and restructure screens based on user journeys (e.g. onboarding, booking, settings)
- Map every interaction (buttons, links, menus, etc.) to its destination using Figma prototypes or annotations
- Identify missing screens, logic gaps, edge cases, or unclear paths
- Think through error states, conditional logic, and success outcomes
- Annotate flows for clarity and handoff readiness
Figma File Systemization
- Clean and organize the Figma file with clear naming, page structure, and grouping
- Convert repeated UI into reusable components with variants and shared styles
- Apply auto layout and component-based design practices
- Define and document foundational design styles (text, color, spacing, layout)
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in product, UX, or interaction design
- Proven ability to work on complex products with logic-driven flows
- Deep fluency in Figma: components, variants, auto layout, prototypes, shared styles
- Strong product thinking with the ability to identify UX problems and propose solutions
- Comfortable working independently and asynchronously
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail
Project Details
Start Date: ASAP
Engagement: Fractional, contract-based
Duration: Initial project estimated at 4–5 focused days, with ongoing work on a smaller scale.
Location: Remote
Compensation: Competitive and based on experience
